This band was formed in 2000 first under the name 'Parva' consisting of singer Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew 'Whitey' White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick 'Peanut' Baines and drummer Nick Hodgson who was replaced by Vijay Mistry in 2013. After their first record deal fell through they reformed as 'Kaiser Chiefs', named after a South-African football club. In 2005 they released their debut album 'Employment' which reached #2 in the UK album charts and was certified 5-times platinum with 3 singles of it reaching the Top 10 in the UK. The album was highly praised by critics and won several awards like the NME award for 'best album'.
In 2007 they released their 2nd album 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob' and reached #1 in the UK and the Netherlands. It was certified double platinum in the UK. The single 'Ruby' became their biggest hit and reached #1 in the UK Single Charts as well as Top Ten in Belgium (Flanders), Netherlands and Ireland.

In 2008 they released their album 'Off With Their Heads' which reached #2 in the UK with the single 'Never Miss A Beat' reaching #5 - becoming their 5th Top Ten single in the UK. The album was certified Gold in the UK. In 2011 they released their next album 'The Future Is Medieval', which reached #10 in the UK. In 2012 they re-released the album under the name 'Start The Revolution without me' for the US market. In 2014 they released their 5th album 'Education, Education, Education & War' and scored their 2nd #1 in the UK album charts. The album was certified Gold. In 2016 they released their next album 'Stay Together' and reached the Top 5 in the UK.
