To hardcode subtitles in VLC media player open your video in VLC.
Now go to the media and select stream.
Click add to add your video.
And click use a subtitle file.
Browse for subtitles.
Click stream.
Now just click next.
Click add.
Click browse.
Select where your video with subtitles will be saved.
Make sure to add mp4 at the end of the file name.
make sure you tick the Activate Transcoding box.
Now select mp4 from the dropdown list.
Now click little wrench icon.
Go to subtitles tab.
Enable it and enable Overlay subtitles on the video.
Click save
Click next and click stream.
Wait for the process to finish and you are done.
