Opposing Force and Blue Shift not included.

Here's a link to the Half-Life 1 Trilogy Upscaled. It includes HL1, OpFor, and Blue Shift. (But it's Xash3D nonsense)

Make sure to get the Opposing Force mouse fix I left in the comments on that page. Or just use this link https://www.mediafire.com/file/ioatz2zsvmor34o/Focalpoint_OF_dlls_1.1.0.9.rar/file

NOTE: If the game isn't showing once you load a map, go into options, video, select a resolution that does not exceed your monitor's native resolution, and pick a render mode that works, Direct3D, OpenGL, or Software.

Note: Couldn't get LAN to work, even with Hamachi. It's just too crusty. There's a thing called WON 2, haven't quite looked into that yet myself, but supposedly it enables proper online multiplayer of the WON version of HL1 stuff.

MODS THAT DON'T WORK WITH HL WON (Try using Xash3D maybe)

Actually, these don't even work even with Xash3D, even with Steam HL1's Valve folder.

Sigh. Valve PLS.

Master Sword (Old)
Master Sword Continued https://www.moddb.com/mods/master-sword-continued-111
Resident Evil Cold Blood Beta 2 https://www.moddb.com/mods/resident-evil-cold-blood/downloads/resident-evil-cold-blood-beta-2
Natural Selection https://www.moddb.com/mods/natural-selection

I wanted to include other classic HL1 mods, but some wouldn't work.

Please be sure to support the official release of Half-Life on Steam, despite it having DRM (yknow, for a 20+ year old game?)

Be sure to also bug Valve to put a pre-2017 code f**ed Half-Life 1 trilogy on GoG (or at least remove the DRM), it's the least they owe us after mangling Half-Life 1's code.

Valve please put your older games (everything up to Half-Life 2 Episode 2 at least) on GoG so I can buy them there and have DRM free versions / proper offline installers, and also include Source SDK 2006 + 2007, because for some backwards reason, their executables are tied to Steam DRM, thanks.

Again, HL2/EP1/EP2/Portal are actually DRM free (but a proper offline installer wouldn't hurt), you just have to launch everything that isn't HL2 with a bat file or shortcut with the correct parameters, and to launch HL2 itself, you simply run the exe in HL2's folder. The GAME parameter is the folder's name. episodic/ep2/portal for EP1/EP2/Portal

Example bat: start hl2.exe -game episodic

Example shortcut: "C:\Users\USER\Desktop\Games\Half-Life 2\hl2.exe" -game ep2

This is more of a mod preservation effort, as much as it is preserving HL1 itself, and surprise, those mods need Half-Life to run, and the only modern way of playing Half-Life, is on Steam, and for some god forsaken reason, this 24+ year old game is still tied to Steam DRM. Buut Half-Life 2 / EP1 / EP2 / Portal, the newer games aren't tied to DRM while the older ones are.... weird.

Not all Steam games enforce Steam DRM, you know. There's a good chunk of Steam games that have no DRM, Freedom Planet 2 for example. Backed up my copy after buying it there, wish I could do that with way more Steam games.

Then there's the argument that Valve just keeps dropping more and more support for older operating systems. Steam will no longer run on Windows 7/8 starting 2024. Yet they still list "Windows XP" as minimum requirements on Half-Life's Steam page, it's like some sort of cruel joke.

It's only a matter of time before they drop Win 10 support.

Either have legacy support for older operating systems using Steam, or remove the DRM from your older games so you can play them on older operating systems.

I still encourage everyone to get Half-Life 1 on Steam (despite the DRM), if they haven't already, as it has less limitations and jank, and more support for more complex mods like Master Sword, and Natural Selection, which refuse to run on HL1 WON.

Or at least the last time I checked Steam HL1 ran those more stubborn mods, Valve probably broke something since then, they have a nasty habit of breaking 10 things from the result of fixing 1 thing. Classic Valve.
