Espionage, Race Science, & Tweakments Oh My! In this video we'll (do a bit of reaching to) connect the racially ambiguous aesthetics of "Instragram face" to 19th century arguments around white marble sculpture. We'll see how whiteness of neoclasssicism made the female nude more palatable, and made audiences' increasing awareness of racial difference more manageable. With the Ethnographic Sculptures of Charles Cordier, Totally Spies, and more than a couple hip-hop cameos, we'll draw a line from 19th century "High Brow" to the "High Cheekbones" delivered by buccal fat removal.
