Born in 1856 in what is now Croatia, Tesla was a standout in mathematics and physics from an early age, and became one of the greatest inventors and scientists of the modern world.

At the age of 28, Tesla emigrated to the United States where he became one of the main engineers for Thomas Edison. However, Tesla decided to strike out on his own, developing a series of groundbreaking innovations and patents. In a famous bet, Tesla demonstrated that his alternating current was superior to Edison's direct current, paving the way for the so-called "war of the currents."

One of the biggest milestones in Tesla's career was his partnership with George Westinghouse, who invested in Tesla's idea for wireless transmission of electrical power. J.P. Morgan also financed the project, which, however, did not have the expected success, and Tesla ended up losing his property in Wardenclyffe.

Despite these setbacks, Tesla continued to make important discoveries throughout his career, including experiments with radio waves and magnetic fields. He passed away in 1943, but left a lasting legacy, with many of his inventions and ideas still influencing the world of science and technology.
