Inside the shaft, Stacy (Laura Ramsey) and Amy (Jena Malone) hear what they think is a phone ringing. But when they finally put their hands on the phone they find out that it is broken and that the sound they hear is actually the vine. The vine then attacks them both but Eric (Shawn Ashmore) pulls them up before it catches them.
