Sophia Zarate is a First-Generation Mexican-American born and raised in the bordertown Laredo, TX. She relocated to New York City in 2016 to pursue her undergraduate B.A. degree in Accounting at Queens College (CUNY). Her professional experience ranges from Finance and Accounting to Human Resources. She is the founder of Corporate Pero Latinos – a Latinx community created with the purpose of facilitating social and professional connections through shared experiences.
Upon realizing the lack of Latinx representation in Corporate America, Sophia took on content creation in November 2021 as a way to find a community that she could relate to in both professional and cultural aspects. What she thought would be a small group of friends that would add to her support system, became a community through which members have been able to find friendship, as well as professional opportunities. Her mission is to demonstrate that working in Corporate America does not have to be synonymous with cultural disconnection.
