John Podesta, who chaired Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and served as chief of staff to President Clinton and counselor to President Obama, spoke at Duke University Wednesday, Nov. 29.
Podesta’s talk, “America’s Role One Year After the Election That Shook the World,” drew upon his experiences running against the Trump campaign, as well as lessons learned during his roles in the past administrations.
Duke political scientist Peter Feaver, a former national security adviser to President George W. Bush, moderated the Fall 2017 Ambassador Dave and Kay Phillips Family International Lectureship.
“John Podesta has been at the center of American politics and policy for the past 25 years and has always been well-known to political insiders,” Feaver said. “In 2016 he became well-known to the majority of Americans because of his role in Secretary Clinton’s campaign, which led him to be targeted by hackers who stole his personal emails and used them in an effort to shape the presidential election."
The event was held in Penn Pavilion on West Campus, was free and open to the public, but tickets were required.
