In a Press Conference on August 05 in Mumbai, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Shaktikanta Das said that the Monetary Policy Committee met on August 3-5 and reviewed the macroeconomic situation and its outlook, due to which RBI hiked repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.4 per cent with immediate effect.
