Courts and Global Norms on Freedom of Expression

Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right, so says in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. But around the world, this embattled right is being threatened by government leaders and those with other types of power.

In October 2021, the brightest and most experienced legal minds working on global freedom of expression joined us for a two-part conference: Courts and Global Norms on Freedom of Expression. Together with these experts, we ask how to better protect freedom of expression and explored the limits of this fundamental right online, in the digital sphere.
