KBS The Korean War Special Documentary 'The longest grave in the world' / KBS 대전 20210615 방송

This documentary chases the truth behind the massacre of civilians during the Korean War around Daejon through the eyes of British national David Miller (Special attache for International Relations, DongGu, Daejon city). 71 years ago, there were massacres of civilians which occurred at the Daejon Penitentiary and at the mountains around GolyongGol. It is estimated that approximately 7,000 civilians were brutally murdered at GolyongGol by the national officials just because they had different thoughts and ideologies. The remains of the greatest number of victims in a single region during the war are buried in a long line of graves, measuring 1km in length. Although countless people had died, it was difficult to question the reason for their deaths during such a harsh time. Families had to live painful lives in the sorrow of losing loved ones and the stigma of ideology. We try to approach the truth that must be known before it's too late. Through the confessions of the families and the ones that were forced to take part in the massacre, the site where human rights were violated in the midst of a war is exposed. The schedule for government led excavation of remains was moved up 7 months because of this documentary alone. This documentary took the first step towards finding the right recollection of history through the excavation of remains and research and to not repeat the same mistakes from the past.
