Homes and businesses were flooded by the incessant rain.

Muddy water mixed with red soil flooded the entire island, which seemed to sink underwater, dragging along debris, gravel, rocks, tree branches, and other materials.

The island was hit by severe weather, with roads flooding within minutes and the sea washing debris onto the shore.

A state of emergency will be declared on the island.

The Governor of the South Aegean Sea, Giorgos Hadjimarkos, said the island had been tested by the severe weather phenomenon.

There are many problems caused by the bad weather. Nature is uncontrollable, and we must not forget that.
