The 1958 World Cup Final was played on June 29 at the Råsunda Stadium, in the city of Solna in Sweden, between the Swedish National Team and the Brazilian National Team. It was the first time that a World Cup final pitted a European team against a South American team. It was also the first time that both teams reached a World Cup final, since in 1950 there was not a final itself, but a final round of a quadrangular.

At the end of the 90 minutes, Brazil defeated the host team by 5 x 2, and became the world champion for the first time. Thus, this was the first time - and for the time being only - that the host team was defeated in a World Cup Final (since in 1950 there was not a final itself, but a final round of a quadrangle), and also the only time a European team has not won a World Cup in Europe.

This match holds the record for most goals scored in a World Cup final (7 goals), and the 3 goals difference for the winning team make this match share the record for winning with the most margin of goals in a World Cup final (the other finals with 3 goals difference were 1970 and 1998. In addition to these, this match still holds the records of "youngest player to score a goal in a World Cup final (Pele - 17 years and 249 days)" and "oldest player to score a goal in a World Cup final ( Liedholm - 35 years and 263 days) ".
