MONSTERS OF THE WEEK: CRYOSTASIS - SLEEP OF REASON
The Ukrainian Psychological Horror First Person Shooter Cryostasis is an overlooked gem of mid-2000s shooter design, with still-up-to-this-day technically impressive visual and technical design and a setting unlike any other in an action-heavy narrative game. The game takes place on an icebound ARKTIKA class nuclear icebreaker, stuck in the north pole and it is your role to piece together the story of what went down on the unlucky ship by traveling into the deceased crew members’ memories and witnessing the events unfold from their eyes.
It’s a game that deserves to be preserved, which is hard these days due to its technical limitations and difficult availability due to non-arbitrable legal differences between the developer Action Forms and their publisher 1C Company.
